If you use Windows Media Connect or Windows Media Player 11

If you already have Windows Media Connect or Windows Media Player 11 sharing your media, you will have to disable them. Goto the 360 and remove the PC from the System tab->Computers. Unistall Windows Media Connect and/or disable sharing in WMP 11.

Instructions

On your PC

1) Install TVersity
2) Make sure the TVersity service is stopped
3) Overwrite the TVersity files with the 360 patch
4) Install ffdshow and flvsplitter (extract to a useful folder e.g. C:\Windows\system32, use a command prompt to install: regsvr32 flvsplitter.ax)
5) Goto: http://localhost:41952/
6) Add the folder you would like to share under the sharing tab by using "Add folder" on the file menu. Change the device to "Xbox 360" in the settings tab.
7) Reboot

You may also wish to delete the internet streams under "Library" by pressing the delete button. This adds too much to the 360 (about 1500 items! making it hard to find your files).

On the 360:

1) Goto the blue "Media" tab
2) Goto video - Computer
3) Connect to TVersity on XPC
4) You may need to go back and forward, to refresh list first time
5) Play a video!

Unofficial known issues

350mb AVIs work straight away, 700mb AVIs may require to load them twice on the 360 (it will say timed out or whatever), just try it again. I did not have to try twice, but just to be sure.

Important!
Some files will fail to work because the filename is too long - so try shortening it.
This also includes pathnames! My videos didn´t work at first, then i moved them to C:\vid, and renamed them to something short, and then it worked fine.

:)

Tenho de ver se um dia destes arranjo paciencia para testar estes streamers, parece-me porreiro, embora agora não me seja muito util visto que tenho a consola ao lado do pc. :wvsore:

A MS podia era aumentar os codecs suportados.... :(

TVersity Media Server v0.9.9 (beta) now available

TVersity Media Server v0.9.9 (beta), which features on the fly transcoding to WMV for the Xbox 260, is now available. The TVersity Media Server allows the management of Internet and home media. It can also be used to create Personal Entertainment Guide (PEG) - personalized lineup of channels. It then serves this media to networked devices in the home as well as mobiles, making the media available anywhere, anytime and from any device.

Some of the features contained in the latest update are:

* On the fly transcoding to WMV for the Xbox 360
o Xbox 360 users can now play their entire media library with no need for MCE.
o Users of other devices that can play WMV can use this target format as an alternative to MPEG. While this will require faster machines to achieve the same quality, it allow for a higher quality per bitrate meaning that a slower home network can be used. This is important mainly for HD content streamed over wireless connections.
o Upconversion of videos to WMV HD can be done (on a fast machine) by tweaking the minVideoInfo in config.xml.

* Bug Fixes
o Bad Internet URLs no longer cause the server to hang for a long period of time (during which no other media could be played).
o UPnP connections from different networks or different subnets are now accepted when the server is configured to accept remote connections. This is as opposed to the past behavior where this configuration only affected the web based interface.
o The XML results returned by the server are now guaranteed to place the item/container title first as required by the UPnP standard.
o Some issues related to playing flash video files (FLV) that were downloaded by the server automatically were fixed.
o Temporary files that were mistakenly placed in the wrong folder are now stored in the Windows temporary folder.

To run TVersity Media Server you need the following minimum system requirements:

* Pentium III 700 Mhz or better (Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with support for Hyper Threading is recommended)
* 128 MB of memory or more (512 MB recommended)
* 50 MB of disk space (At least 1 GB of free space is recommended for cache area of transcoded media)
* Windows XP or Windows 2000
* DirectX 9.0 or higher
* Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher
* Audio enabled on the computer running the software
* Flash version 7 for the GUI (MSIE version 6.0 required for full GUI functionality, other Flash enabled browsers such as Firefox will have most but not all of the functionality.)
