AMD Prepares 45-watt "Brisbane"


AMD expects to reposition its Athlon 64 X2 processors towards entry level users, below the upcoming Phenom processors. The repositioned Athlon 64 X2 model lineup does away with the performance rating, which made its debut with the Athlon XP, in favor of a new model number system – the Athlon 64 X2 BE-2000-series.

AMD began sampling its upcoming Athlon 64 X2 BE-2000-series processors. The new Athlon 64 X2 BE-2000-series remains based on AMD’s 65nm Brisbane-core, but with lower thermal ratings. AMD Athlon BE-2000-series processors will arrive with 45-watt TDP ratings, equaling that of the energy efficient single-core processors.

Three AMD Athlon 64 X2 BE-2000 series models will be available – the BE-2400, BE-2350 and BE-2300. AMD has set the clock speeds of the new BE-2000-series at 2.3 GHz, 2.1 GHz and 1.9 GHz, respectively. As with other Brisbane-based processors, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 BE-2000-series feature 2x512KB of L2 cache, 2000 MHz HyperTransport speed and AMD Virtualization technology.

Expect AMD to debut its Athlon 64 X2 BE-2300 and BE-2350 next month. The Athlon 64 X2 BE-2400 will arrive later, in August.

Bem se os outros já são baratos, estes vão mesmo trazer Dual cores a todas as casas.. E se há uma coisa em que a AMD é boa é em termos de Consumo... simplesmente os melhores CPUs para Media Center, isto se a sua performance acompanhar.. :D

Sunnyvale (CA) – AMD announced a new version of its Sempron processor which will be targeted at fanless embedded designs.
Running in a power envelope of 9 watt, the new Sempron 2100+ processor is the lowest power consuming processor of AMD’s 64-bit processor family so far. According to the manufacturer, the socket S1 CPU is designed for single board computers as well as embedded client systems and will run in combination with the recently announced M690T chipset. The 2100+ 64-bit processor is clocked at 1 GHz.

AMD does not publish power specifications for its mobile Sempron CPUs; regular Sempron processors (3000+ to 3800+) run at a thermal design power (TDP) of 35 or 62 watts watts.

AMD also adjusted the temperature tolerance of the Geode LX 800 CPU to allow a use of the CPU in harsh temperature environments. AMD said that the chip can now operate in the -40 to +85 degrees Celsius range. The LX 800 is rated at a maximum TDP of 3.9 watts.

off-topic: qd é que saiem processadores da amd a 65nm? Não era suposto já estarem alguns am2 a 65nm no mercado?
 
a pergunta que se coloca é:

quem (como eu) tem um 4200+ EE (Energy Eficient) ganha alguma coisa em trocar para estes processadores? a nível de performance é melhor ou é igual?

Ainda não se sabe o nível de desempenho, por isso é difícil responder.Mas suspeito que não tenhas grande ganhos
 
Processadores de consumo baixo, acho excelente :)

Já agora, alguem tem uma lista do consumo de energia (watt) dos processadores?

Queria ver se comprava um PC com consumo mt baixo (<120 watt com monitor) :)
 
há uma coisa que me surpreende nestes processadores...

o multi não ser um número inteiro.

o meu 4200 (core windsor) não me deixa usar multis que não sejam inteiros (ou será que é a motherboard?)
